Our Creole Language Program
FTSJS hosts a language program for anyone interested in learning the beautiful Haitian Creole language: The Creole Language Institute at FTSJS. Possible students include – but are not limited to -- international students, researchers, volunteers coming to Haiti, people with Haitian relatives, adoptive parents, NGO practitioners and others. It is a flexible program, worthwhile for those for want just initial exposure and adequate for people who plan to eventually use Haitian Creole as a primary method of communication.
Courses are taught by native speakers of Creole who are also fluent in English. Right now, due to the Pandemic, courses are taught exclusively online using Zoom and WhatsApp. This allows students to schedule flexibly, at times that are convenient for them and the instructor. Once we are able to again teach on our Bon Repos campus, courses will again be intensive immersion experiences with field trips that introduce participants to Haitian culture.
